Set in a totalitarian future Britain ruled by fear and oppression, the story follows Evey Hammond, an ordinary young woman whose life changes when she crosses paths with a masked vigilante known only as V. V for Vendetta was directed by James McTeigue (Ninja Assassin, Sense8) and written by the Wachowskis (The Matrix Trilogy, Cloud Atlas), adapted from the groundbreaking graphic novel by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. The film stars Natalie Portman (Black Swan, Closer, Jackie) as Evey Hammond, Hugo Weaving (The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Cloud Atlas) as V, Stephen Rea (The Crying Game, Interview with the Vampire) as Inspector Finch, Stephen Fry (Wilde, A Bit of Fry & Laurie) as Gordon Deitrich, and John Hurt (Alien, 1984, The Elephant Man) as the authoritarian Chancellor Sutler.
