Tension Headaches | Triggers, Risk Factors, Signs & Symptoms, Types, Diagnosis, Treatment Tension Headaches (also known as stress headaches and tension-type headaches) are very common headaches that lead to mild-moderate bilateral head pain. Tension Headaches can be triggered by a variety of factors including sleep deprivation, dehydration and stress. Tension Headaches differ from migraine headaches in many ways including that tension headaches are bilateral, do not have associated nausea/vomiting and do not have a prodrome.
