Tesla SDU Oil Pump Reverse Mod

In this video, I walk you through modifying the oil pump from a Tesla front small drive unit (SDU) for reverse drive operation. While the process is nearly identical for both front and rear drive units, there’s one key difference: for the front unit, the OEM outlet needs to be swapped with a 90-degree elbow to fit the pump in reverse. For the rear unit, this step isn’t necessary, as both the inlet and outlet are on the same side. For rear drive units, however, the OEM oil pickup won’t work after the mod due to the direction of the oil flow reversing. To fix this, we’ve developed a bolt-in replacement oil pickup designed specifically for modified rear SDU pumps. Check out the link below for more details. Not feeling up to doing the mod yourself?
