I always wanted a BSA Gold Star from the moment I first saw them at the NEC in Birmingham in 2021, to relive the memories of my father and his Red BSA Gold Star in the 1970's. The value of modern BSA motorcycles is dropping rapidly, mainly due to a lack of available parts and dealer support in the UK. As an owner facing rideability issues with my BSA Gold Star, I now understand why bike dealers offer low trade-in values for these bikes. Anyone that tells you "reliability issues are all resolved" is hamming-it-up. What they really mean is their own reliability issues are resolved, they don't speak for us, only themselves. I am seeing early 2024 bikes having head gaskets replaced, even the first batch of bikes didn't need any head work doing. They'll tell you that the "health check" resolves the reliability issues. Not that the health check covers any of the issues my BSA is having plus the poor folk out there having wiring looms replaced. 2024 BSA Service Campaign: • BSA Gold Star 2024 Service Campaign -... Comments like "2,500 trouble-free miles" from owners hint that there are underlying issues they are aware of with ownership. Personally, I've received zero support from Lukas Distribution. If you buy a 12-month-old motorcycle privately, you're no longer their priority. It feels like they focus on new buyers with problems and leave the rest of us behind. If we as BSA Gold Star owners hope to see any value in our motorcycles, aftersales support needs to be re-imagined entirely. If BSA concentrated on helping owners with faults, sales would take care of themselves. Instead, they heavily discount pricing and leave the dealers to mop up the mess.
