Driving from Lenk to Wimmis (near Spiez) through the Simmen Valley (Simmental), a typically green valley in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland. Enjoy a scenic drive through a magnificent landscape with beautiful wooden houses / chalets and impressive view of the forested Swiss mountains. The start of this road trip is Lenk, a municipality in the administrative district of Obersimmental-Saanen in the canton of Bern. It is the highest municipality in the Simmental. The municipality area includes several mountains, the highest is Wildstrubel. A little below the Wildstrubel, at the Siebenbrunnen, rises the Simme, which gives the Simmen Valley (Simmental) its name. Lenk has about 2’300 inhabitants. The tour ends southwest of Spiez in Wimmis. Wimmis is a municipality in the administrative district of Frutigen-Niedersimmental in the canton of Bern. The Simmen valley (Simmental) is an alpine valley in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland. It extends from Lenk to Boltigen (Obersimmental) and from there to the end of the valley in Wimmis near Spiez (Niedersimmental). The Simme river flows through the valley. Further up is the Jaunpass, which is crossed to go from Bulle to Fribourg, as well as the Hahnenmoos, which links Lenk with Adelboden.
