Have you ever wondered what parts go into making an external halyard flagpole? We are laying everything out for you. Ornament The top of a flagpole typically has a gold ball. If you would prefer a different color ball, like silver we have those available as well. Another option for an ornament is an eagle. These are purely decorative and do not have anything to do with the operation of the flagpole. Truck No, not a car. Just the whole mechanism to operate the flagpole. We have a stationary truck, it does not move with the wind. And we have a revolving truck, it moves with the wind. Flagpoles with stationary trucks are typically 20’-25’ flagpoles with smaller base diameters. Flagpoles with revolving trucks are on any size flagpole, depending on the size of the base of the flagpole. The truck has a pulley to operate the rope going up and down. Rope Like mentioned above, the rope goes through the pulley for the flag to go up and down. The flag is attached to the rope, and the rope is tied off on the flagpole to keep it taught on the flagpole. Snap Hooks The swivel, zinc-plated snap hooks are attached to the rope on one end and to the flag on the other end. How many snap hooks you will need for your flag & flagpole will depend on how big your flag is, and how many grommets or D-Rings the flag has. At a minimum, you will need two. Snap Hook Covers These go over the snap hooks to reduce the noise when the snap hook hits the flagpole. Cleat The cleat is about 4 feet off the ground. This is where the rope is tied off on an external halyard flagpole.
