The Grane Road runs between junction 5 of the M65 at Guide in Blackburn and into Haslingden. It is the B6232 and properly comprises of three roads, namely (starting from junction 5) Haslindgen Road, Elton Road and Grane Road. The road has a bit of a reputation and now features average speed cameras. The road twists and turns up and down and features a number of significant corners. It often becomes impassible after heavy snow as the summit of the road is around 1000 feet. The speed limit is 40mph at the Blackburn end and 50mph from just before the Grey Mare pub, before being reduced to 30mph in the run into Haslingden. The road bypasses the village of Belthorn and also passes the Grey Mare, the turning for Jackson Heights road (which goes through to Hoddlesden) and the Holden Wood Antiques Centre.
