Event Highlights | MoU with BAKDIL to Strengthen ECD in Garo Hills | MECDM | 2024

Meghalaya is strengthening community-led early childhood development through a partnership with BAKDIL, the social service wing of the Catholic Diocese of Tura. In an event held at St. Luke’s Church, Tura, the Government of Meghalaya signed a two-year MoU with BAKDIL to support nurturing care, early learning, and maternal health—reaching families across the Garo Hills region through local faith and community leaders. This partnership aims to strengthen early childhood outcomes for children (0–8 years) by working closely with community networks, including Parish Priests, Catechists, Touring Sisters, and other local institutions—so that ECD support reaches homes and communities effectively. The event included keynote messages from government and church leaders, training and sensitization sessions, and cultural performances—highlighting the shared commitment to make child development a collective responsibility.
