Habenular Commissure & Pineal Gland Calcification Habenular commissure and pineal gland calcifications are often incidental findings in neuroimaging, particularly on CT scans. They are usually asymptomatic and associated with aging or benign processes. However, understanding their imaging characteristics can help distinguish them from pathological conditions. In both cases, MRI is less sensitive than CT for detecting calcifications, but it can still identify them, particularly using advanced techniques like susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI). It must be noted that, they can also be detected with skull X-ray. While the clinical significance is generally low, these calcifications can sometimes serve as markers for other neurological or systemic conditions in specific cases.
