Steinwandklamm Gorge, Hausstein Lookout Rock, Myrafälle Waterfalls I AT - An Alpine "Forest Park" 🙃

This time we visited the Steinwandklamm gorge, the Hausstein hill and the Myrafälle waterfalls*, about 60 km from Vienna. All these places were more or less full of people, so they resembled rather a suburban recreation area. A minimum of water flowed through the Steinwandklamm in August 2024, so it is better to visit this gorge in the rainy season, or after the snow melts. Rudolf-Decker-Steig did not disappoint, it was interesting to climb karst rock formations, where, for example in the Türkenloch part, the population once hid from the Turks. From Jagasitz our route led through meadows and forests on a smaller ridge with views all the way to the Schneeberg. The Hausstein rock gave us views especially of Muggendorf but also of the surrounding Wiener Alpen. The Myrafälle waterfalls did have enough water and are worth a visit even in the summer, as long as you don't mind large numbers of people.
