One of the best Beginner sewing projects to start learning about apparel is making Pajama Shorts! In this video I am going to walk you through how to make a pair of pajama shorts for yourself. 💥I typically wear a Small to a Medium in shorts/pants so I decided to make a Medium for these shorts and the fit was perfect! 💥When I was making these, I realized that the Free Pattern miss labeled the Front & Back (they should be reversed) because the Back should be a bit wider and have the deeper & more curved crotch. 💻Blog Post from "Sew So Easy" with directions & a Free Pattern: https://so-sew-easy.com/unisex-pajama... 📑Sew So Easy FREE Pattern: https://payhip.com/b/toR0 Adapted Shorts Pattern: file:///C:/Users/mmcquary1/Documents/TEACHING/Fashion%20Design/Proj.%20&%20Patterns/Pajama%20Shorts%20Pattern%20Pieces%20&%20Pocket.pdf 🧵SUPPLIES: 1.5 - 2 Yards of 100% Cotton Fabric or Flannel (yardage depends on size: 2 yds for L & XL) Thread 1" Wide Elastic Scissors Pins 🔷SIZING: To decide what size you should sew, reference the size chart in the blog post linked above. Look at the waist and hip measurements to decide on your size. However, the best rule of thumb for this pattern is to sew the size of pants you usually wear or even better to size up for a more comfortable fit. ⏩MAKING ADAPTIONS (Length, Waist, & pockets): Length - If you want to make your shorts smaller, all you will need to do is trim the bottom before you hem them. REMEMBER...you will need to have 1.5 inches of fabric to create your 1 inch hem, so once you decide on your length make sure to add 1.5 inches. You can try you shorts on and draw a line for the length you want, or you can measure the "inseam" (inside leg seam between your thighs) to mark the length you want (add your seam allowance) Waist - These shorts sit at your natural high waist, but if you want them to fall lower, simply trim off 1.5" before you fold down the raw edge to create your casing for the elastic. Pockets - Watch the last clip in the video to see how to change the shape of your pockets. The pockets should typically be placed 6 inches from the top of your shorts (before folding the top down) but if you are shortening the length of your shorts I would suggest shifting your pocket 2 inches up (so pin & sew your pockets 3 inches from the top of your shorts). ▶RESOURCES: How To Fold & Lay Fabric for Cutting a Pattern: • Learn to Sew: How to Lay Out Your Fabric How To Lay Out Pattern Pieces: • Learn to Sew: How to Lay Out Your Pattern
