She chose to be herself, unafraid to speak & sing her mind, her music is sheer bliss, transcending everything around her. Starting her performing career at AIR Chennai - Pondichery & eventually landing in Chennai. She has been a silent striving artist , a guru par excellence. Her music & voice resounds to this day through suprabhatham at the Thiruvallur temple. Janaki Ramanujam might not be a highly prominent figure in the broader Carnatic music scene, but such artists often contributed significantly to the art for through dedicated teaching, community performances and preserving traditional values in music. Artists like her play a vital role in sustaining the cultural heritage of Carnatic music. Violin: M Narmadha Mridangam: Papanasam R Kumar This pasuram from Periyazhvar Tirumozhi portrays Periyazhvar’s tender, parental devotion toward Sri Raṅganatha of Srirangam. In the form of a protective benediction (Kaval pasuram), he commands all dangers and disturbances to stay away, invokes the Lord’s divine weapons and cosmic guardians for protection, and lovingly describes the Lord resting peacefully on Adiseṣha with Goddess Lakshmi. Through this hymn, Periyazhvar expresses his role as a guardian, safeguarding both the Lord and the sacred city of Srirangam. Lyrics: Uragal uragal uragal Onsudar Azhiye sangke Araveri nandhaga vale azhagiya sarngkame thande iravu padamal irunda enmar ulogapalirgal paravai araiya uragal palli araik kurik konmin Aravaththu amaliyinodum azhagiya parkadalodum aravinda pavaiyum thanum agampadi vandu pugundu paravaith thirai pala modappalli kolginra piranai paravuginran vithuchiththan pathinam kavar poruthe ----------------------------------------------------------- Meaning: Periyazhvar lovingly but firmly orders all dangers to go away from the Lord. He calls upon Vishnu’s divine weapons, the guardians of the eight directions, and even commands birds and bad omens to remain silent.The tone is that of a devoted parent protecting a sleeping child, showing deep affection and concern for the Lord’s safety. The Lord, along with Goddess Lakshmi, Adiseṣha, and the Milk Ocean, enters Srirangam and reclines peacefully. As waves rise and fall around him, He rests majestically yet gently.
