In this craft, I’m making a simple farmhouse coaster set using plain wood coasters (4x4 from Michaels), soft layered paint, stenciled words, and a gorgeous fine-line crackle finish that looks like vintage porcelain crazing. What we’re making: A coordinated set of coasters with the words Bless, Gather, Farmhouse, and Family—each one slightly different so they feel perfectly rustic and handmade. How it’s done (quick overview): Base coat: DecoArt Buttermilk Soft background: a light “wash” of Burlap + Lush Green (painted with the grain) Words stenciled in Traditional Raw Umber (I angle longer words to fit the coaster size) Finish: Pentart 2-step Fine Line Crackle (component 1, dry, then component 2) To bring the crackle to life: Dark wax rubbed into the cracks for that aged, ceramic look I also share tips for preventing stencil bleed (offload, offload, offload!), how to fix little boo-boos, and an idea for making these double-sided with a coordinating napkin or paper on the back. These would make a sweet housewarming gift, hostess gift, or a cozy touch for your own coffee table. Supplies mentioned 4x4 wood coasters + round coasters (Michaels) DecoArt paint: Buttermilk, Burlap, Lush Green Traditional Raw Umber (for words) Stencil word sheet (from a stencil set / club pack) Sandpaper block (120 grit) Pentart Fine Line Crackle (Component 1 + 2) Dark wax (to highlight crackle) Optional sealers: spray matte + Pentart varnish/top coat Links + Discount Codes If you click over to Essential Stencil to grab the stencil, you can use my code WK21 at checkout - https://bit.ly/4asB7Ym The Spring 2026 Collection will be available 2/28/26!
