DIY Half Bath Board & Batten: Home Redesign

I decided to try board and batten in our downstairs half bath. While I did skim coat the walls to remove the texture, I’d definitely use a panel board to cover the texture next time. After some difficulties with stuck saw blades, finding a Home Depot who’s cutting machine was working, and the biggest of all… BAD paint, this project turned out incredible! Here are some of the tools and material you’ll need. Tools: 1.) Skill Saw 2.) Rip Cut (If wanting to cut long sheets accurately or buy a Table Saw) 3.) Miter Saw (Optional as a Skill Saw can do everything) 4.) Jig Saw (Optional for cutting odd shapes) 5.) Hole Saw Set (Optional for cutting circular shapes, can be done with Jig Saw) 6.) Brad Nailer 7.) Caulking Gun 8.) Tape Measure 9.) Carpenters Pencils 10.) Level 11.) Stud Finder 12.) Orbital Sander (As Needed) 13.) Taping Knife (If using Skim Coat – Don’t Recommend) 14.) Paint Brushes 15.) Sanding Block Materials: 1.) MDF Board (4’x8’ if making your own boards/battens, much cheaper) 2.) Wood Putty (As Needed for Gaps between Wood) 3.) Liquid Nails (To Secure Wood) 4.) Brad Nails (Choose Gauge Based on your Nailer) 5.) Alex Plus Caulking 6.) Paint & Primer (We used Sherwin Williams) 7.) Fine Cutting Saw Blades (To make non-rough cuts / finished look) 8.)
