At IWA 2026 in Nuremberg, Germany, James Reeves stopped by the Tanfoglio booth to take a look at the company’s updated tactical pistol lineup. While Tanfoglio is best known for its competition pistols, the company has been steadily expanding its tactical and duty-oriented models, bringing many of the same design philosophies from their competition guns into more practical defensive platforms. Maurizio from Tanfoglio walks us through the latest updates to the tactical line, including improvements to existing models and the introduction of new variants. One of the major additions this year is the use of Swiss Super-LumiNova night sights, which provide a non-radioactive alternative to tritium and offer strong visibility in low-light conditions. Tanfoglio has also introduced a new tactical pistol case that ships with the guns. Unlike many polymer cases commonly bundled with firearms, this case is fully manufactured in Italy using recycled plastic and designed to provide a more robust, Pelican-style storage option. The tactical pistols share several features with Tanfoglio’s competition models, including steel construction, polygonal rifling, and high-quality internal components. However, the tactical line uses a double-action/single-action trigger system with manual safety and firing pin safety, making it better suited for duty or defensive use compared to the lighter single-action triggers found on competition models. The lineup includes models such as the Tactical Pro with threaded barrel and the ported Heptagon Tactical, available in 9mm, 10mm Auto, and .45 ACP. Tanfoglio continues to support the larger calibers even as many manufacturers shift exclusively toward 9mm. Also new for 2026 is a more affordable Tactical 45 model aimed at delivering the same steel-frame construction and core features at a lower price point. Tanfoglio expects the 9mm version of this model to land around the $1,000 mark in the U.S. market. Filmed at IWA 2026 in Nuremberg, Germany.
