Exploring Lunenburg, Nova Scotia 🇨🇦 | UNESCO Town, Distilleries & Waterfront Dining!

Welcome to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia—one of Canada’s most picturesque and historic coastal towns! 🇨🇦🌊 This UNESCO World Heritage Site is known for its colorful waterfront, rich maritime history, and vibrant food & drink scene. In this video, we spend the day exploring Lunenburg, visiting: 📍 Ship and Boat Chandlery – A peek into Nova Scotia’s maritime heritage. 🥃 Ironworks Distillery – Sampling unique local liquors & taking home some bottles! 🍕 Salt Shaker Deli & Inn – Enjoying delicious seafood pizza & a mushroom/red sauce pizza. 🍺 Shipwright Brewing & Lightship Brewery – Tasting local craft beer flights. =============================== ⬇️Tips and Info for visiting these spots! ⬇️ ==================================== 🏛️ Lunenburg’s Historical Significance Did you know? Lunenburg is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its well-preserved British colonial architecture and rich shipbuilding history. Founded in 1753, it became a hub for fishing and shipbuilding. Home to the world-famous Bluenose II, a racing schooner and Canadian icon (although it wasn’t in dock during our visit). The town’s distinctive colorful buildings were designed to help sailors recognize the town from a distance. 💡 Fun Fact: Many of the original homes in Lunenburg feature “Lunenburg Bumps”, an architectural quirk where the second story extends over the first! 🍴 Food, Drinks & Breweries in Lunenburg We made some amazing stops for food and drinks, each offering its own unique charm: 🍕 Salt Shaker Deli & Inn – A cozy waterfront spot where we had seafood pizza and a mushroom & red sauce pizza—both absolutely delicious! 🥃 Ironworks Distillery – A craft distillery housed in an old blacksmith shop where we sampled locally made rum, vodka, and gin—no purchase required, but we couldn’t resist grabbing two bottles! 🍺 Shipwright Brewing & Lightship Brewery – We did beer flights at each brewery, tasting some of Nova Scotia’s finest craft brews. 🍂 Visiting Lunenburg in the Fall We visited in early October, and the crisp fall weather made walking through town even more enjoyable. While the Bluenose II wasn’t in dock, the harbor views and historic streets made for a perfect day of sightseeing. 💡 Would you visit Lunenburg?
