National Route 141 is a major highway that runs from Nirasaki City in Yamanashi Prefecture to Ueda City in Nagano Prefecture. It passes through a plateau at an altitude of 1,300 meters on the eastern foot of the Yatsugatake Mountains. During the Edo period, this route was known as the Saku-Koshu Kaido or Saku Okan, and served as a logistics artery. With the opening of the railway in the 1930s, the road fell into decline, but since 1970, it has regained its vitality with the advancement of motorization. This time, we filmed the entire route from its starting point in Nirasaki City to its end in Ueda City. Due to the length of the recording, we will be releasing it in four separate videos. The third video shows the section from Sakuho Town in Nagano Prefecture to Komoro City. Once inside Saku City, the road becomes a fine four-lane highway, but traffic volume increases and traffic flow becomes a little slower. The snow-capped mountain you can see in the foreground is Mount Asama (2,568m above sea level), a symbol of the Saku region of Nagano Prefecture.
