Hilda (Jean Alexander) gets Archie (John Stratton) to complete the porch for No.13 but they still haven’t sought planning permission for it. Councillor Warburton (Martin Boddey) pressures Len to support a housing plan, but Len prefers bungalows for the elderly. Len returns Rita’s scarf and they flirt again. He later asks Ray (Neville Buswell) and Jerry (Graham Haberfield) to vacate No.9 so he can entertain Rita. Hilda proudly showcases her porch but Ray enjoys raining on her parade by revealing she needed to get planning permission and it’s likely to get demolished.
