This 10.5 mile hike started out in Daniel Boone National Forest in Kentucky. We visited a local historic site called Fiddlers Rock. The name comes from a fiddle carved into a huge outcrop of the sandstone cap rock of the Cumberland Plateau. There’s also a full sized carving of a rifle and a man wearing pointed toe cowboy boots. The awesome Buffalo Arch was our next stop. This arch is huge and unique in its shape. We ridge walked past hundreds of pink Lady Slipper flowers before descending past rock formations and a waterfall below reaching the totally beautiful Rock Creek. Wildflowers abound along its banks. Rock Creek has rapids interspersed with deep blue holes of water. We continued upstream for miles until leaving Rock Creek after passing through an abandoned railroad tunnel. That’s an experience of its own kind. We finally completed our journey in Tennessee at the gorgeous Pickett State Park. What a hike, what a day!
