My very first vinyl. Of course it’s the vinyl of my all time favorite band Depeche Mode. I intend to buy vinyl record player this year, collect all 15 DM studio albums and listen to them. To be honest, when I found out that many fans consider this album to be one of the band's worst, I was surprised. Yes, this album is much calmer and more relaxed than the others. There is practically no tin in it (except, perhaps, The Dead of Night, both musically and lyrically, then again only moderately), but at the same time it is more lyrical, creative, relaxing, pacifying, like a healing shower of holy water taken after a long stay in Hell. And so it is. After all, the band created Songs Of Faith And Devotion in hellish conditions, then experienced the consequences of releasing an album and a tour in honor of him: Dave almost died of an overdose, Martin became addicted to alcohol, Fletch had his demons. But there was a desire to get out of Hell (or at least try), so the bet on Ultra was win or lose. In it, the band has not yet fully emerged from the crisis of the atmosphere of the creation of the last album, but was on the way to it. In Exciter, they have finally closed this dark page of their history and have come to a common balance and a standard of harmony. Plus, this is the last album where they experimented with sound.
