TLDR: This is Flysky’s new FS-ST8 transmitter. It’s made to fill the gap between Flysky’s budget radios like the i6X, and their premium Paladin18 ‣ Price: $75-85 ‣ Protocol: ANT ‣ Channels: 10 (plenty for most quads and planes) ‣ The External JR module port is only compatible with Flysky modules (no Crossfire or ELRS for you!) ‣ Don’t buy this if you want a transmitter that can bind with various brands of receivers or uses OpenTX/EdgeTX operating system (as all of the most popular transmitters do now) ‣ You are locked in the “flysky universe” ‣ It is better than the FS-i6X ‣ Between the ST8 and the i6X, I would buy the ST8 ‣ If you already have a bunch of the older AFHDS2A protocol Flysky receivers but want to upgrade to the ST8, You can purchase Flysky’s FS-RM003 external transmitter module ‣ So should you buy it? Given the increased prices as of late (May 2022), I think the ST8, though not as feature rich as other modern radios, still fills a role as a simpler, sub-$100 radio that is very capable and especially appealing to beginners.
