MTB Trails at Black Mountain Open Space Park - San Diego, California

We kicked things off with a challenging technical section at Knoll Downhill, navigating sharp rocks and loose edges. From there, we cruised down to Santa Luz Artichokes, enjoying some fast and flowy singletrack and catching a jump off a rock on the side of the trail but super fun! Afterward, we climbed Carmel Valley Rd and tackled the steep inclines of Aqueduct Service Rd and Maler Dirt Climb, with some tough sections ranging from 6.8% to 19.8% grades. This led us to Black Mountain Summit Rd and up the 2-mile steady climb to the peak, where we paused to soak in the breathtaking golden hour sunset and took a moment to rehydrate. The fun continued with a thrilling descent down Black Widow, followed by another climb back to the service road for another run. We then hit the Nighthawk connector and made our final descent via Miner's Ridge Loop and Glider Port, wrapping up our ride on the Ahwee Trail back to the parking lot. These are just a few of the trails we enjoyed this afternoon, but Black Mountain has so much more to offer. With its mix of fun punchy climbs, technical sections, and stunning views, it's a mountain biker's paradise! Enjoy!!
