Lament for our rebellion, our sin, is something we would rather avoid, let along make a public prayer of it, but this is what we encounter in Psalm 69. Various verses find their way into the New Testament writings, making the groaning appropriate for us as people of grace. When we are conscious of our sin, are we aware of the pain that it causes God. Does it break our hearts in light of the extraordinary grace that we've been gifted? It is notable that lament is followed by praise, back and forth throughout the poem. We praise because of grace as much as we allow our hearts to break at the idea of sin in our lives.
