1972 classic rock Neil Young – Harvest Reprise Records – RST 2032 B, Reprise Records – MS 2032 Reel-To-Reel, 7 1/2 ips, Stereo WHAT IS A "NOW 7 1/2 ips" tape???? Reel to Reel tapes bought and sold https://reelhifi.com/ Toward the end of the prerecorded reel to reel tape Era, a few Labels like Warner Brothers and mostly Magtec/Stereotape transfers may have realized that folks were looking for audiophile reel to reel tapes. Sales were dropping and it made sense to begin producing higher fidelity tape albums at 7 1/2 inches per second to appeal to more tape heads. There was often a sticker placed on the box in the upper left or lower front corners but not always. Spine logos and reel labels were not updated to reflect the higher speed. And I have seen the "Now 71/2 IPS sticker put on the shrink wrap that would have been tossed. So anyway there are Legit tapes that play at 7 1/2 ips only identified as 3 3/4 ips. I have another one of those tapes here • Peter, Paul and Mary: "Too Much of Nothing... If you come across a Magtec or Warner Bros tape that has a tape pack that is twice the size as it should be it is likely one of two things. A tape that has another tape album spliced to it or a "Now 7 1/2 ips" tape. It was common back in the day for folks to splice together tape albums of one artist on to one reel and keep it in one box perhaps throwing away the other boxes or using the excess box as a handy stash box. I once bought a Used KISS DESTROYER reel to reel tape album that was packed overflowing with tape. It turned out that it was 4 KISS albums Spliced together. I have a Jazz album playing on this channel • 1960 Jazz - Moodsville - Coleman Hawkins a... that is a great example it has two 1/2 moon labels on the reel. The cat that spliced the albums together managed to remove the label of the tossed reel and affix it to the host reel. This tape was transferred to the computer for upload to YouTube using Vinyl Studio as an interface and an RME ADI-2 Pro Analog to Digital Converter in PCM mode at 96K 24 bit. I also recorded this in Native DSD256. The RME Dac is one of the very few AD/DACs that will archive analog music to true "Native DSD files" and Vinyl Studio also interfaces direct DSD using the ASIO drivers when using the Windows platform. This combination is an affordable solution for archiving analog tape. Harvest is the fourth studio album by Canadian / American musician Neil Young, released in February 1972 on Reprise Records, catalog MS 2032. It featured the London Symphony Orchestra on two tracks and vocals by noted guests David Crosby, Graham Nash, Linda Ronstadt, Stephen Stills, and James Taylor. It topped the Billboard 200 album chart[2] for two weeks and spawned two hit singles, "Old Man", which peaked at No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "Heart of Gold", which reached No. 1. It was the best-selling album of 1972 in the United States.
