However, newborns can be vaccinated to avoid becoming infected in almost all cases. • Sharing personal items: Sharing things like razors, toothbrushes and nail clippers with a person who is infected with the virus can also happen. What are the symptoms of Hepatitis B (HBV)? Main symptoms may include the following: • loss of appetite • Vomiting • Nausea • Excessive fatigue • Fever, which is usually of low grade. • Physical pain, including joint and muscle pain • Abdominal pain (near the liver) Symptoms of liver disease appear several days after infection and include: • Jaundice (yellow skin) • The white of the eyes turns yellow. • Dark urine • Itchy skin • Upset stomach Can hepatitis B be prevented?
