Todays episode covers part 2, a gentle sail from Ramsgate to Gravelines in Northern France. I travel past the treacherous Goodwin sands and past the Sandettie Light Vessel. Crossing over the North Sea, approaching winter, is dangerous enough on a warmer day with the added dangers of the busy shipping lanes, in the English Channel. I will cover all of the customs paperwork on both sides to ensure you don't get a fine. Ill also cover all the documents you and the crew should be carrying. I have sailed for quite a few years and there's lots of paperwork i didn't realise which needed to be in place before sailing to another country. Its not as simple as carrying your passport and setting sail. Crossing the english channel is a right of passage for any sailor wishing to broaden their skills. I also discover a number of life jackets floating in the water and report the findings. I am recreating a journey i took seven years before when i was a youngster crossing the English Channel for the 1st time, i have included some of the original footage. If you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments. Enjoy, sit back and relax in the warmth while I tackle the freezing North Sea onboard Evania, my Beneteau Oceanis 343.
