Heron Island Snorkelling Trip 2024

We left the industrial hub of Gladstone Queensland to arrive in Heron Island at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef. The slogan for the island is Nature’s Wonderland and it definitely lived up to it. We stayed for 4 wonderful nights in the resort, the food and staff were amazing. The weather played its part and was perfect for the three full days. We squeezed in 8 snorkels (Eb, a couple less) into our stay between timing the tides and the channel opening times. The marine life was absolutely amazing, consistently different and something surprising would turn up each snorkel that we hadn’t seen before. We have snorkelled many times already on our trip around Australia, the boys showed that they are now highly competent snorkelers and no trouble snorkelling in the different elements the island presented. This is one of our big highlights of the trip and is a wonderful holiday if you ever wanted to visit the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland.
