At 10:00AM on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026 the National Weather Service in Dodge City, Kansas issued a Test Tornado Warning for… All covered counties… unit 10:15AM. Then, at 10:00:19 Seward County activated the City of Liberal Outdoor Warning Sirens which consisted of a 3 minute Alert. My original plan for SWA was crushed due to the thunderstorms that were expected through central and eastern Kansas. Didn’t want to risk driving all that way for nothing, so I decided to venture out into the middle of nowhere in far western Kansas where it would be cleared up. I remembered this lone Thunderbolt left in Liberal, so I settled on that. Not disappointed at all. Glad it’s finally been recorded. I suspected it was a 1000 so I wasn’t shocked that turned out to be, but it was a bit surprising to see it’s set to 8RPM. I’m honestly not sure why the city has kept this unit when they replaced the rest of the old system with 2001s a while back, but no complaints from me.
