On August 22nd and 23rd, the Fort Wayne Railroad historical society in conjunction with Norfolk Southern, and the Reading and Northern Railroad hosted a series of excursions dubbed the Lehigh Gorge Special" from Bethlehem, PA to Pittston, PA and return. The trips ran on the Lehigh Line a mixture of former Central Railroad of New Jersey and Lehigh Valley Main lines. We will see the train at a variety of locations. 1. Treichlers 2. Glen Onoko 3. White Haven 4. Mountain Top/Glen Summit 5. Oak Street Avoca, PA 6. Duryea, PA 7. Glen Onoko (southbound) The 765 and her crew put on a phenomial show, with the big Birkshire lugging the heavy 19 car train up steep grade unassisted. Special thanks to the FWRHS and 765's crew, Norfolk southern and Reading and Northern for operating the trips. Also Special thanks to Eric Berger, Adam Christman, and Eli Wilson for helping us get from location to location and to my awesome co-pilot Tyler Varnum.
