One of the most overlooked aspects of jiu jitsu is how to use one’s attacks or way of playing to fatigue your opponent. Making your opponent tired is one of the most critical parts of grappling in that fatigue can make even technically sound players make bad decisions, of which can create openings for you to score and potentially achieve a submission. Most of the time, when we hear about asymmetrical work rates or fatiguing our training partner we think of the standing or top position. Contrary to what most would think, we can also use the bottom position to make the top player work harder by way of wrestling up or not accepting being pinned on our back. In order to successfully do this, one must develop proficiency in defending and attacking from the turtle, butterfly guard (seated guard), and the half guard. In this video, we discuss how we can use these positions to attack and wear on our opponents gas tank, as well as the mindset we must develop in order to be successful using this approach. We're building this channel to share high-level insights on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, No-Gi grappling, wrestling, Judo, and MMA training.
