Recording of Interfaith Glasgow's online event 'Anti-Pagan Prejudice: the Untold Story' from 18/04/21. Paganism is a thriving faith tradition in Scotland - but one which is widely misunderstood and is often maligned. Despite Pagan celebrations and weddings being on the rise – the annual Beltane Fire Festival in Edinburgh attracts 12,000 visitors - the community still faces discrimination and a lack of understanding. The Scottish Pagan Federation have recently run a series of surveys to assess the discrimination faced by the Pagan community, and the results are worrying. Over 40% of Pagans surveyed stated that they have faced direct discrimination, and over 40% said that they have felt have felt anxious or depressed because of other people’s attitudes towards their faith. Watch this event to hear from Pagans - from a number of different traditions - about what their beliefs and practices mean to them. With speakers: Linda Haggerstone, National Interfaith Officer of the Scottish Pagan Federation Stephen Haggerty, Presiding Officer of the Scottish Pagan Federation Chris Dumont, Scottish Pagan Federation Bren Macneil, Scottish Pagan Federation Sarah Kerr, President of the Pagan Federation (UK) With special thanks to the Scottish Pagan Federation for their help in organising this event, and to Stuart Platt, filmmaker, for editing this video.
