As some students return to classrooms for in-person learning, it is important to remember the health guidelines that will reduce the risk for our students, staff, and community. This video shares more information about when to keep children and siblings home from school and what to do if they are sent home with COVID-19 symptoms. As a reminder: Students will be required to wear a face mask at all times, including on the bus. Students should also bring a second face mask with them, in case the first mask gets dirty or lost. Students will have their temperature checked and will need to present a self-certification form at the front door each day. Students who do not have a ticket completed will be sent to a separate area until a family member can be contacted by school staff. Students will also maintain social distancing throughout the school day. Desks have been spaced at least six feet apart in each classroom. If there is a suspected COVID-19 case in a CCSD 89 school, the district's nursing staff will work with the DuPage County Health Department to conduct contact tracing and advise families. All families will receive a notice if a student or staff member who is positive for COVID-19 was at school. Students who need to quarantine or be tested will receive a letter with instructions specific to their circumstances. Community Consolidated School District 89 serves more than 2,100 preschool through middle school students from Glen Ellyn, Lombard, and Wheaton, Illinois. Dr. Emily K. Tammaru is the Superintendent for the District, which includes four elementary schools and one middle school. To learn more about CCSD 89, go to www.ccsd89.org.
