January 31, 2026 | Kilolo, Iringa – Tanzania Tanzania’s journey toward modern, productive agriculture took a significant step forward as Farm for the Future (FFF) Ltd hosted strategic partnership discussions with the AGCOT Centre at its Kilolo facility. Bringing together 45 representatives from AMCOS, regional and district agricultural offices, TARI researchers, private sector partners, and farmer leaders from Mbeya, Njombe, Iringa, and Morogoro, the meeting focused on one urgent priority: accessible mechanization for smallholder farmers. 🚜 What Was Showcased? Modern maize planters Irish potato harvesters Conservation agriculture equipment Locally produced maize seed systems Equipment available for purchase or lease Regional Agricultural Officer Wilson Joel (Njombe) highlighted how most farmers still rely on low-efficiency hand tools, limiting productivity and discouraging youth participation in agriculture. He emphasized that modern equipment reduces labor, cuts post-harvest losses, and aligns with Tanzania’s long-term development vision. From the farmer perspective, Sheriff Magindo of Baya Egoma AMCOS welcomed the innovation, noting its potential to significantly increase yields and quality. At the same time, he called for adaptable, affordable machinery suited to different terrains and farmer capacities. AGCOT representative Lilian Lugola explained that the visit aimed to assess how this new business model—developed in partnership with Norway’s Underhug—can be scaled to strengthen food security and transform farming systems across Tanzania. This initiative signals a broader shift: From subsistence to efficiency. From hand tools to smart technology. From potential to productivity. 🔔 Subscribe for more stories driving agricultural transformation in Tanzania. #AGCOT #FarmForTheFuture #Mechanization #SmallholderFarmers #TanzaniaAgriculture #FoodSecurit
