"12-Day War Ends": Trump Announces Israel-Iran Ceasefire | ISH News

On the night of 23rd June, Iran fired around 12 missiles at the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which is the biggest US military base in the Middle East. The base is located about 32 km from Doha and has thousands of US troops. Most of the US aircraft were moved out before the attack, and no one was injured. Patriot missile systems shot down almost all the missiles. US and Iraqi officials said that Iran had given a warning before the strike. Al Udeid is an important US base, with combat aircraft, medical, refuelling, and logistics facilities. It has supported US missions in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. President Trump visited the base last month. After the attack, Trump announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, calling it the end of the “12 Day War.” He said both countries showed courage and agreed to peace. The White House said Trump spoke to Israeli PM Netanyahu and also contacted Iranian officials. Iranian state media confirmed the ceasefire but claimed it was “forced on the enemy.” Iran’s Foreign Minister, however, said there was no formal agreement, but Iran would stop attacks if Israel stopped by 4 am Tehran time. There have been no new Israeli attacks since then. But soon after Trump’s peace announcement, a drone hit Camp Taji near Baghdad, Iraq.
