E26 is on the fast track gaining experience he/she will need post dispersal. A female intruder (appears to the the same one that has been hanging around, link: • SWFL Eagles 3-17-26. INTRUDER RUNS Into T... ) flew into the pasture early in the morning. M15 flew in shortly before the intruder did. E26 left the nest and joined M15 on the outer branches. E26 flew to the front drive snag (FDS), then flew to the front snag to flush the intruder. They briefly engage, and M15 leaves the treetop branch to protect E26/flush the intruder out of the nest pasture. M15 returns to the treetop perch, the intruder flies to a front pine, and E26 flies to the front church pine. The intruder is in the tree next to E26. M15 flies to the tree with the intruder, moves above her to flush her again, and she flies on her own to another front snag. M15 flies after her, feet/talons extended, and flushes her from the nest pasture. A Great Blue Heron is flying through in the middle of it all. The intruder flies to the W pasture, and M15 flies to the treetop perch. M15 flies to the W pasture, and perches above the intruder. There was no further physical interaction between them. M15 appears to be tolerating her perching at a distance. The nest pasture is off limits, and E26 is helping to enforce that. M15 flew from the W pasture, and then the intruder headed NW. M15 returned while I was tracking the intruder. E26 did a great job flushing the intruder with Dad. E26 has previously defended the nest and food against this intruder, who may be interested in the territory. Time will tell; there are many months between now and nesting season. E26 fledged on 3-10-26, and may remain in the territory with M15 for another few weeks, maybe longer, as some previous E's have done. All of the interactions E26 has will help prepare him/her for life after M15 and F23. Hopefully we see E26 practicing fishing soon! Time stamps below, if interested.
