"Begin by lightly touching the strings with the bow, using circular bowing near the fingerboard. The sound should be barely audible, like a whisper more air than tone. Let the bow gently glide over the strings in a continuous, fluid motion, maintaining a sense of suspended motion. After two full repetitions of the ostinato, gradually increase bow pressure and contact, allowing the pitches to emerge more clearly. Do not rush the transition; let it feel organic, as if the sound is slowly surfacing from beneath water. From time to time you can gliss between some notes, for example the last two or the first two to change the expression. Each performer plays in their own tempo, guided by their inner sense of timing.
