I've returned from the grave and worked up the courage to post again. It's been a year or so since my last cringe post, and I think I've improved a lot on my musical skills. Firstly, barre chords aren't too much of a problem now and I can decently switch to them as part of muscle memory. My hand still gets tired after awhile though, and it's more difficult to barre the chords around the first fret than up the neck (or down? idk). Secondly, I've worked on my vocals and guitar skills daily (or about 90% of the days when I was able to) during the hiatus. About 50 minutes of vocal warmups and at least 1 hour of singing and playing each night. Without proper paid vocal lessons, I've been relying on tips and advice from videos online and what I can remember from my one class of choir in high school many years ago to sing better. Many days, I felt discouraged because I didn't and still don't think my vocals are great, but the various songs I have been writing (among other things) have kept me going, regardless if they aren't good. One day, I'll share the songs I've written, probably when I can get around to music production, which is already quite intimidating. Anyway, this video is my casual, not serious, and probably bad, cover of Rosie's 'dance all night'. She sings it better than me obviously, and there are certain parts where I messed up, but I become self-conscious when I'm being recorded. Also, I believe I'm not playing in the right key for my voice and not in time either if there was a metronome, but oh well. I'm still learning. As much as I'd like to be a perfectionist, I think it's good to show the world my flaws. I told myself that if I were to keep waiting for it to be 'perfect', I'd still be on hiatus and never post. Enjoy my cover! Anticipate more in the future.
