Today, my good friend Andy ‘The Guitar Geek’ Ferris gives us a lesson in all things fuzz! If you’re anything like me – that is, something of a fuzz pedal beginner – then this video will be a great way for you to get started with some of the different fuzz pedal types. Interstellar Audio Machines Fuzzsquatch Fuzzdrive: https://interstellaraudiomachines.com... Andy picked these pedals because they all represent different tonal fuzz worlds. The Crazy Tube Circuits Constellation is a multi-mode Germanium fuzz/booster inspired by classic vintage British fuzzboxes like the Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face, the Vox ToneBender, the Sola Sound Tone Bender Mk 1.5 and Mk II, and the Dallas Rangemaster. The Walrus Audio Eons Five-State Fuzz is a more modern feeling, 5-flavor fuzz that has silicon and germanium clipping options, a voltage knob (that goes from a full 18 volts down to 3 volts for splatty, gated fuzz sounds) and massive amounts of gain on tap. The Walrus Audio Fundamental Fuzz, meanwhile, is a more affordable offering from the brand, offering three modes – Classic, Mid+ and Gated – and sliders instead of knobs. This USA-made, $99 fuzz can get super aggressive, as you’ll hear, but it’s still a forgiving choice for your first fuzz pedal. Next we try the Beetronics Octahive V2, which is an octave fuzz that draws inspiration from the iconic 1970s octave pedals, blending vintage tones with modern enhancements – and not not a little craziness! The final fuzz was new for Andy too: it’s the Interstellar Audio Machines Fuzzsquatch Fuzzdrive, which is based on the legendary Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi pedal. If many of the descriptions and words used here are new to you, don’t worry – just let Andy (who is a major fuzz aficionado) take you through the different types, and who knows, maybe you’ll find something you like the sound of.
