Full title: Exploring Element Fingerprinting in Terrestrial Rocks and Extraterrestrial Materials with Artificial Intelligence Speaker: Ping Wang (Applicant) Abstract: I will present two tools: (1) an open-source data visualization tool for understanding elemental patterns in terrestrial rocks and extra-terrestrial materials created by using Python-based frameworks; and (2) an intelligent chatbot integrating advanced natural language processing (NLP) techniques with a robust database of elemental patterns in terrestrial rock samples and extra-terrestrial material samples to deliver actionable insights on element fingerprinting. An interactive map embedded in the visualization tool and enhanced by AI/ML algorithms allows interpreting elemental pattern data, contextualizing the results, and exploring element fingerprinting possible. An intelligent chatbot which was developed through iterative refinement of its NLP capabilities uses elemental pattern data in the backend system and ensures accurate and intuitive interactions. Rigorous testing is conducted to validate the chatbot's responses against expert assessments. This freely available open-source data visualization tool and the intelligent chatbot display live interconnection between element fingerprinting and sources/origins in a wide range of applications, enabling better understanding from deeper dives into data-driven narratives. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Planetary Science Institute is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to Solar System exploration. It is headquartered in Tucson, AZ, where it was founded in 1972. In 2016 PSI established a second office in Lakewood, CO (near Denver). PSI scientists and educators are involved in numerous NASA and international missions, the study of Mars, Earth, and other planets, the Moon, asteroids, comets, interplanetary dust, impact physics, the origin of the solar system, extrasolar planet formation, dynamics, the rise of life, and other areas of research. They conduct fieldwork on all continents of the Earth to understand our planet and others. They are also actively involved around the world in science education and public outreach through school programs, children's books, popular science books, podcasts, and art.
