This is not at all a boss battle, but it's still important to the plot. The party finally meets up with Minwu again. He had to use every bit of power within his body to break the seal that was guarding the door to the Ultima Tome. It was so much power that he DIES from his own might. He seems to take it calmly, as he says it was his destiny to go out like this. So inside there are 5 spheres. Of course the golden one in the middle is the one that gives you Ultima, that you then have to decide who gets to learn the spell. But despite going towards the Ultima Tome, first, you should save it for last and talk to the spheres around it, as they will all disappear if you talk to the gold one first. Each of the corner spheres reference an element, and justifies that for increasing a stat or attribute for the whole party: Top Left: Increases Party's Spirit - Earth Top Right: Increases Party's Intelligence - Water Bottom Left: Increases Party's Strength - Fire Bottom Right: Increases Party's Agility - Wind At this point, with the Ultimate Magic in hand, ready to end the Emperor with it, I think I'm much closer to reaching the "Endgame" of Final Fantasy II.
