After Sterling K. Brown returns to Paradise in the second season of his hit Hulu dystopian thriller series, he’s due to star in a live-action '80s remake with some star-studded names. Brown, Henry Cavill, Alba Baptista, Nathan Jones, and more have all been tapped to star in the live-action Voltron movie, which wrapped filming earlier this year but is still without an official release date. Rawson Marshall Thurber, who recently directed the massive Netflix action blockbuster, Red Notice, will direct Voltron with a script he wrote with Ellen Shanman. Collider’s Steve Weintraub recently caught up with Brown to chat about Paradise Season 2, which will premiere on Hulu this February, and he asked what the Voltron movie was even about. “It’s about Voltron!” Brown said with a smile. He then spoke about his personal experience with the IP, “We must be around the same age, because it was a big deal when I was growing up. I think it was a Japanese anime first, and then we got the rights for it in St. Louis, and the Koplars, which are based in St. Louis, were the primary distributors of it in the United States. I’m from St. Louis, and I went to school with the main producer for the film, Bob Koplar.” Brown then looked to his Paradise Season 2 co-star, Shailene Woodley, and asked if she was familiar with the series, “Do you know Voltron at all? It’s these robot lions that come together to form this ultimate defender of the universe, and he’s got this amazing flaming sword, and he beats a lot of ass.” He also elaborated on the cast and what it was like working with director Rawson Marshall Thurber. He told Collider: "So, I'm in it. We shot in Australia. That's directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, who's awesome. We’ve got a great cast — some familiar faces, a lot of newcomers, or what have you. And I think that's all I can say without them wanting to cut off my pinky toe." Woodley followed by trying to get Brown to spill the beans, “It’s just the pinky toe!” But Brown says, “It’s just the pinky, but I like my pinky toe.” #voltron #sterlingkbrown #paradise #henrycavill #shailenewoodley For interviews, movie reviews, and more visit https://collider.com FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL / collider / collider / collider
