This video shows the current train fleet (August 2023) along with the future rolling stock and past rolling stock for this operator. The Caledonian Sleeper operated all loco hauled trains with 75 Mark 5 carriages operating all services with 4 variations of the carriage for different accommodation types. The Mk5 have sleeper carriages, accessible sleeper carriages, club/lounge carriages and seated carriages with the travel options being seats (in 2+1 layout), classic rooms (some interconnecting rooms), club rooms (with en suite) and double rooms (like club with double bed). The lowlander sleeper operates as 16 carriages splitting at Carstairs with 8 going to each of Glasgow and Edinburgh (same in reverse to London). In each 8 carriage formation there are 5 sleeper, 1 accessible sleeper, 1 club and 1 seated carriage. The highlander sleeper operates as 16 carriages splitting at Edinburgh with 8 always going to Inverness (5 sleeper, 1 accessible sleeper, 1 club and 1 seated carriage), 6 go to Aberdeen (3 sleeper, 1 accessible sleeper, 1 club and 1 seated carriage) and 2 go to Fort William (1 sleeper, 1 accessible sleeper) along with an additional 1 club and 1 seated carriage being added at Edinburgh making 4 to Fort William in total. During the summer the Aberdeen and Fort William portions switch with more demand for travel on the West Highland line at this time however seated passengers still need to move carriages at Edinburgh. Class 92 locomotive haul the sleeper on the electrified WCML section with class 73 on the unelectrified Highland portions with a class 66 or second class 73 used for more power on West Highland and Highland Main line routes. Note that all locomotives are hired from GB Railfreight. In the past Caledonian Sleeper has operated class 67, class 90, class 86 and class 87 locomotives. Until 2019 Mark 3 sleeper and Mark 2 seat/lounge carriages were used. The train fleet information is correct as possible as of August 2023 and future train fleet dates are based for the planned introduction for passenger services. Past Train Fleet is based on when the current Caledonian Sleeper franchise has been in operation separate from ScotRail, including the previous operation from 2015-2023 when Serco operated the service. #Caledonian #Sleeper #Train
