Acupuncture - What can a Patient Expect?

As a patient, what might you expect when you come in to our office, and would laser acupuncture without needles be a good alternative to needles. First, we would sit down together and you would be asked about your symptoms and overall health history. Many questions would probably be different from what your traditional physician might ask. Then, as part of the evaluation, the pulses on each wrist would be evaluated, and then we would do an EMI - and Electro Meridian Image - which would show on a computer screen, and we would also give you a printed copy as well. When you leave the office you would have your own personal chart showing the condition of the acupuncture meridians. From that we would go over together what meridians were high and which were low, and what might be done to correct them using some form of meridian therapy, and perhaps other forms of treatment as well, such as herbs and nutritional supplements. You would be asked whether you feel at ease with needles or not. You might want to try needles, because they are very very thin and can be totally comfortable. Otherwise you would be offered the option of painless, but highly effective, laser acupuncture as a needle alternative. Currently, in our office, about half of our patients prefer laser therapy over needles, and we find lasers to be equally effective when properly applied.
