/ junjustinyu Carnegie Hall Performance: • Justin Yu-Spanish Dance by Albaniz (2013) Music Video • Jun Yu performing Father's World Music Video (2012) • 6-year-old's Music for Peace Project (2013) Jericho Cellist A Worldwide Phenom Jericho's Jun (Justin) Yu's special talents caught the eyes of the musical world at an age when most children have just started to read.The 7-year-old Elementary School second grader, son of Chinese composer and conductor Ziliang and Korean pianist Rho Aera, started to play cello at the age of three and has since racked up tens of thousands of Youtube views.Yu recently won first prize in China's Aixueaixue Talent Competition, Yueshangdianfeng, and appeared on Korea's TV series Star King. He was selected among 3,000 gifted children worldwide. So far, Justin Yu has performed concerts and appeared on television in Suzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, China and Korea. He has also been invited to perform with the New York International Symphony Orchestra on June 15 at Lincoln Center, where he will be performing Sarasate's Zigeunerweisen with orchestra in Alice Tully Hall. In 2010, Jun was accepted into the Herald Music School gifted class under the training of renowned cellist, Dr. Ole Akahoshi. That same year, Jun took home the second prize in New York's Oyster Bay Music Competition and performed as a soloist with the NY International Symphony Orchestra and HMS Symphony Orchestra in Promise Theater. In 2011, Justin was featured in the 9/11 Memorial Concert and his performance earned him warm praises from music critics. In October of 2012, Justin made his debut at Carnegie Hall performing Saint Saen's Swan with the New York International Symphony Orchestra. In the same month, he was invited by organizations such as the United National World Children Service to perform in several charitable events. That December, Justin made his first TV appearance and he was featured in the Korean Christian Television Station (CTS)'s Christmas Special Program. He was also invited by the Shanghai International Youth Orchestra to perform as a soloist in the Oriental Art Center in China. This February, Yu made his debut at the Rose Theater of Lincoln Center. He has also been accepted by the Manhattan School of Music as one of the youngest cellist in the school's history.
