Learn how to safely light your propane gas grill in just a few simple steps. First, open the grill lid and turn the propane tank valve counterclockwise to release the gas. Next, turn one of the burner knobs to the “ignite” or “start” position. If your grill has an ignition knob, press and hold it until the burner lights. For grills with a separate ignition button or switch, press that instead. If the grill doesn't ignite right away, turn off the gas and wait a few minutes for it to clear. Then, turn the gas back on and use a long-reach lighter through the designated ignition hole on the side of the grill.
