Ted Black and His Orchestra – Now That You’re Gone, Fox Trot (Gus Kahn – Ted Fiorito) Victor 1931 (USA) NOTE: In the 1930s, Ted Black’s Orchestra was one of the American sweet dance bands, that after about decade of a moderate success, fell apart and plunged into oblivion. Founded by Ted Black in 1929, it disbanded in 1943, having recorded during years of its presence quite several very nice sides, with interesting arrangements. One of them is Ted Black’s interpretation of Ted Fio Rito’s “Now That You’re Gone” - a well known “abandoned lover’s tune” of the early 1930s (…one those wonderful heartbreaking evergreens that we never get bored with, such as “When Your Lover Has Gone” or “Lover, Come Back To Me”).
