RAISE YOUR VALUE (Episode 2 of 10: Swimming out of Poverty) The three steps I shared previous article on ‘Hardwork being indispensable’ will help will shape you in becoming a successful person. But let me make mention that your target should not merely be premised on being successful but being a person of value. Being a person of high value means being paid more but what does this even mean you may ask? Pay attention to this. To the largest extent your income is a reflection of how the market values you. This is good news because it then means that this is within your control. That is why no matter how great of a street sweeper you can be, your hourly wage can never compare with that of an eye surgeon, simply because the market has set values. So how do you add value to the market? The easiest way to bring more value to the market place and increase your wealth is to focus on your growth. It is in the same light that we have one consultant charging $20(K360) per hour while for a similar assignment one charges $500 (K9000) per hour, One Speaker is willing to speaker for free while the other one is charging $10000 (K185,000) for an address at the same place, the same applies across everything we are engaged in from employment to footballers. The market is willing to pay more if you have high value. Did you know that the same type of bottled mineral water you would buy in an ordinary shop would cost you twice or thrice the amount if bought at one of the five star hotels? You know why? Value that has been added to that Hotel! It is important to understand the basic fact to increase your income, increase the value you offer to the market place as such you need to make growth your daily agenda. You do not get more valuable by hanging around for years, age is no value. You must be willing to offer anything that adds value to your customers. You increase your value by working hard on yourself than you do on your job or company. You might change businesses, companies, strategies, tactics or mentors……. But you are the constant, as such work on yourself and keep getting better than yesterday. It takes time to bring value to the market place, interestingly we are not paid based on time but value. As such there is nothing more valuable than time invested wisely and intentionally. I am yet to meet a rich person who does not value time and a poor man who values and respects time because with time everything can be accomplished. Your value increases significantly with the addition of education. This could be formal or informal, reading content that builds will set you up for higher heights in no time. The sky is the stepping stone to success for an entrepreneur who commits to growing and becoming more valuable. You are in charge of yourself regardless of outside circumstances.
