FRIDAY 20TH FEBRUARY 2026 - CRIME WATCH LIVE Today's Highlights: Bar brawl turns fatal: CCTV captures moments before Venezuelan teen is chased and hacked to death in San Fernando • CCTV footage from inside Black Sails Bar along Cipero Street, San Fernando, has revealed chilling moments that preceded the brutal killing of 19-year-old Venezuelan national Jesus Carlos in the early hours of carnival Sunday. • According to the footage, shortly before 4 a.m., several Venezuelan nationals were inside the bar socializing and dancing. • A Trinidadian man was seen standing nearby, using his cellphone while repeatedly looking in the direction of the group. • He later approached a Venezuelan woman and attempted to speak with her. She appeared disinterested and continued dancing with her friends. • The man walked toward the exit but was subsequently engaged in conversation by another Venezuelan woman before re-entering the establishment. • Once back inside, he again approached the same woman who had earlier rejected him. At one point, he was seen holding her arm and pulling her. Another female intervened, stepping between them as what appeared to be a verbal exchange followed. • The confrontation spilled outside the bar, where footage shows further exchanges. During the interaction, one person was pushed against a machine, causing it to shift. • The Venezuelan group later returned inside and resumed socialising. The Trinidadian man also re-entered and remained on his phone. • He then approached the same woman again while she was dancing closely with a Venezuelan man. The footage shows him leaning in and whispering in her ear, which appeared to anger the man she was dancing with. • An argument quickly escalated. Several Venezuelan men intervened and appeared to demand that the Trinidadian leave them alone. • During the melee, one of the Venezuelans slapped the Trinidadian man, while another struck him on the head with a bottle, causing a visible laceration. • What followed was a wider confrontation — this time involving at least three other Trinidadian men. • Notably, the man who had initially pursued the woman and was struck with the bottle was not seen participating in the later stages of the fight, which spilled onto Cipero Street. • CCTV footage shows three men entering a Nissan Wingroad, which then drove off along Cipero Street. • According to police and relatives, the violence did not end there. • 19-year-old Jesus Carlos, who was among the Venezuelan group, was reportedly chased for over a mile after leaving the area. During the confusion, he became separated from his friends. • The pursuit ended at the corner of Imrie and Rigsby Streets, where he sought refuge by jumping into the yard of a residence. • His attackers followed. • Carlos was cornered and repeatedly chopped. He died at the scene before emergency services could render assistance. • His brother, who was present during the initial altercation, told I.A.N. News that the dispute began after the Venezuelan woman was allegedly harassed and inappropriately grabbed inside the bar. He said tensions escalated rapidly after members of the group confronted the suspect. • Residents in the area reported hearing shouting and a commotion before the grim discovery was made.
