Buddha Purnima Celebrations 2005 | HD Enhanced | Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Vesak is celebrated as the date of Gautama Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and nirvana in Buddhism, and Bhagawan Baba celebrated the festival each year since 1995. The celebrations span two days, the second day falling on the full moon in May. In 2005, the celebrations took place in Brindavan, Whitefield, Bangalore, and were organized by the devotees from Sri Lanka. The video begins with a traditional Sri Lankan welcome, before moving to bhajans. The evening program commences with speeches, and ends with Bhagawan's Divine Discourse and Mangala Aarati. Soon afterwards, the scene shifts to the Sai Krishan Kalyana Mandapam, where a reenactment of the sacred Dalada Esala Perahera festival (occurring annually in Kandy in Sri Lanka to commemorate Lord Buddha), takes place. The performance includes a performance of the traditional Kandyan Dance of Sri Lanka. The second day of the celebrations begins with a drum performance by Sri Lankan devotees, followed by a dance Drama entitled "The Life Divine" in the Sai Krishan Kalyana Mandapam.
