Sightsavers’ Global Efforts to Amplify Voices and Opportunities for the Most Marginalized

Around the world, millions of people are excluded from health, education, employment, and civic life due to preventable visual impairment and disability-related barriers. Sightsavers works across Africa and Asia in partnership with governments, foundations, and civil society to eliminate avoidable blindness and advance disability-inclusive development. This session explores Sightsavers’ evidence-based approach to systems change at a time when inclusion is central to the Sustainable Development Goals. It also offers a capacity-building opportunity for foundations and practitioners to strengthen their understanding of disability inclusion and apply inclusive practices within their own work. The discussion highlights how programs spanning eye health, inclusive education, economic empowerment, and political participation contribute to more equitable, productive, and cohesive societies, and where Arab foundations can engage to advance inclusive and sustainable development.
